Did you know that honey and honeybees are woven into the rich tapestry of the Bible? While honeybees themselves aren't explicitly mentioned, their sweet labor—honey—appears throughout Scripture as a symbol of abundance, nourishment, and divine blessing.
The phrase “a land flowing with milk and honey” is one of the Bible’s most well-known descriptions of the Promised Land. This imagery, found in books like Exodus (3:8) and Deuteronomy (6:3), paints a picture of a land brimming with fertility and God’s provision.
Honey also carries symbolic meaning in various passages:
Even John the Baptist—known for his simple and austere lifestyle—relied on "wild honey" as part of his diet while living in the wilderness (Matthew 3:4).
One of the most intriguing mentions is found in Judges 14:8-9, where Samson discovers a swarm of bees and honey inside the carcass of a lion. This unique story highlights the sweetness and mystery of honey in the ancient world.
Honey, as a gift of nature, reminds us of the goodness and provision of God—a sweetness that nourishes both body and spirit. Beyond its biblical significance, honey also reminds us of the vital role honeybees play in our world today. These remarkable creatures not only produce honey but are essential pollinators, supporting the growth of fruits, vegetables, and flowers.
However, honeybees face growing challenges, including habitat loss, pesticide exposure, and climate change. Preserving their habitats and supporting bee-friendly practices, such as planting wildflowers and avoiding harmful chemicals, is crucial for maintaining the balance of nature and ensuring the survival of these incredible pollinators.
So the next time you enjoy a spoonful of honey, take a moment to reflect on its biblical significance, the remarkable creatures that produce it, and the importance of protecting their habitats for generations to come!

ABOUT US
We are a family-run Honeybee farm and rescue. Our journey started in 2019 just before the start of the pandemic, one of the most uncertain and isolated times worldwide. We have had many successes and many failures along the way with our beloved Honeybees and want to be able to educate others about something we care so deeply about as we continue to learn ourselves along the way. We live in zone 7b and will be making videos on how we do things, not necessarily how you should run your operation in different areas of the country. We are learning every day and will continue until the day they put us on the ground. No one said it better than Bob Binnie, "Beekeeping is 50% science and 50% art." We hope you'll enjoy following along on our journey, whether you are a beekeeper or not! Lolly & Poppy
